These shoes don't know what today will bring
Some days they'll walk through the front door to music, laughter and someone excited to tell us about their day.
Some days they'll end up sitting on the floor, building Lego, colouring pictures or losing a game of cards.
Some days they'll join an unplanned game of hide and seek... because keeping the people we care for safe suddenly became the only thing that mattered.
Some days they'll celebrate a first job, a new school, a new home or a goal that once felt out of reach.
And some days...
They'll quietly sit beside someone experiencing the hardest day of their life.
The shoes don't get to choose which day it will be. Neither do the people wearing them.
But they show up anyway.
Not because every day is easy.
Not because they have all the answers.
But because showing up matters.
In social care, we don't just support people through crisis.
We walk beside people through every chapter of their story.
So here's to every pair of worn-out shoes at the end of a long shift.
