McCare
The team

The people behind the work.

McCare is built around the people who do the work. Below are the senior managers and administration team who hold the standards, the governance and the day-to-day support behind every home and service. We hire slowly, on purpose, and the team is growing.

Raymond Carroll, Managing Director at McCare

Raymond Carroll

Managing Director

Raymond Carroll is Managing Director of McCare, bringing more than 15 years' experience across children's residential care, advocacy, counselling and senior leadership.

He is committed to ensuring children and young people receive safe, high-quality care, have their voices heard and know that the adults around them are firmly in their corner. Raymond supports McCare's senior leaders to maintain strong standards, meet regulatory responsibilities and continually improve the service.

All while attending enough meetings to qualify as a full-time endurance sport, and still finding time to work on a golf handicap that, much like the meetings, is a work in progress.

Brendan Dee, Director of Care and Compliance at McCare

Brendan Dee

Director of Care and Compliance

Brendan leads operations across McCare's children's, young adult and disability services. A Registered Nurse in Intellectual Disability with a PhD and MSc in Nursing Practice, he brings over fifteen years' experience in clinical practice, service management, education and consultancy.

A collaborative and supportive leader, he works closely with Regional Managers and service teams to strengthen quality, governance and person-centred practice, turning complex challenges into clear, practical plans.

A proud Limerick man and regular at recent All-Ireland finals, Brendan likes to think the county's success began when he hung up his own boots.

Joanne Joyce, Quality, Risk and Service Improvement Lead at McCare

Joanne Joyce

Quality, Risk and Service Improvement Lead

Joanne is a CORU-registered Social Care Worker and McCare's Quality, Risk and Service Improvement Lead. She qualified with a BA (Hons) in Social Care Work in 2012 and has worked in children's residential care ever since.

Through audit, risk management and service improvement, Joanne promotes a culture of high accountability and high support. She believes children must always be at the centre of every decision, and that audit is most valuable when teams learn from its findings and turn that learning into better everyday practice. Strong oversight, shared learning and continuous improvement are essential to ensuring children receive safe, consistent and high-quality care.

Despite working in risk, Joanne somehow failed to identify any in taking up rugby at the age of 41.

Lauryn Nelson, Regional Manager at McCare

Lauryn Nelson

Regional Manager

Lauryn Nelson is a Regional Manager at McCare, qualified with a BA (Hons) in Social Care, and has worked with children, young people and adults since 2019.

Lauryn is a trusted source of guidance and support for the management teams she leads. Highly efficient and dependable, Lauryn keeps a clear focus on the care and wellbeing of our young people, as well as the teams supporting them.

She brings calm, direction and follow-through to everything she does — if Lauryn says it's done, you can safely tick it off the list.

Gráinne Croke, Regional Manager at McCare

Gráinne Croke

Regional Manager

Gráinne is a Regional Manager at McCare and a qualified social care worker, having graduated from LIT. She has worked with children and young people since 2014.

She supports and leads McCare's management teams, helping them provide safe, consistent and high-quality care. A true leader of managers, Gráinne brings experience, warmth and steady guidance to her role.

Outside of work, she is equally committed to managing her cats, although they remain the only team that completely ignores her leadership.
