Residential social
care, done properly.

McCare runs children's residential, disability and aftercare services across Ireland. Around eighty team members and growing. Aligned to HIQA National Standards and Tusla regulation, and run by a senior team who've done this work for decades.

Who we work with

The people we hire, the referrers we work with, and the families behind every placement.

How to refer

How referrals work for mainstream residential, separated children, disability and aftercare. The right pathway, the right team, no online forms for sensitive cases.

What we do

Children's, disability, aftercare.

Most providers specialise in one. We've built around all three, and the transitions between them.

  • Mainstream residential
  • Separated children seeking international protection

Two pathways under one roof. Mainstream residential care via the National Placement Team, and dedicated homes for separated children seeking international protection working in close partnership with Tusla.

Our approach

GROUND → GROWTH.The model behind every placement.

Our residential and aftercare services follow a model we call GROUND → GROWTH: trauma-informed but non-clinical, built around safety, relationships, and pace.

Disability services run on a separate Positive Behaviour Support framework. Both are person-centred, evidence-informed, and aligned to HIQA national standards.

Outcomes are individualised, relationally supported, and measured where it makes sense, never reduced to a number on a dashboard.

The GROUND to GROWTH model: Grounding, Clarity and Connection form the foundations of care, and growth — Development and Direction — emerges from strong grounding.Growth emerges from strong grounding.DevelopmentSkills, Identity& ParticipationDirectionOutcomes, Transition& HopeGROUNDFoundations of CareGroundingSafety & RegulationClarityOrientation & UnderstandingConnectionRelationships & Belonging

Send a message.
We'll take it from there.

One short form, one inbox, read by the senior team. Whether you're a family thinking about a placement, a referrer, or someone considering a role with us, this is the way in. Most enquiries get a personal response within two working days. Sensitive details belong on a secure call rather than a web form; we'll set that up once we've made contact.
