Care that bends to the person, not the other way around.

Residential support for individuals with physical and intellectual disabilities. We work in close partnership with the HSE, families, and everyone else already involved in each person's life.

What to expect

Daily life,
the people around them,
and how decisions get made.

The HSE will give you the formal facts. This page is for the warmer questions: what the home feels like, who's around, and how decisions get made day to day.

A home, not a unit

Our houses in Swords and Skerries are set up to feel like homes. Private bedrooms, a lived-in kitchen, a back garden, and the everyday clutter of a real household. Visitors don't sign in at a reception desk; they come in the front door.

The team behind your son or daughter

A registered manager leads a small, consistent team of qualified social care workers. The same faces, week after week. We build long relationships because the individuals we support deserve them. High turnover is a symptom we work hard to avoid.

Decisions made together

Care plans are written with the individual, their family, the HSE social worker, and any other professional who matters. We meet regularly, share clearly, and update plans as their needs change, because they will.

Respect for what already works

If the person we support has a school, a club, a friendship, a routine they already love, that comes with them. Our job is to support those connections, not replace them with our own version of a good life.

How referrals work

From first conversation
to placement.

Disability placements are funded and referred through the HSE. Here's the path most families and social workers take with us, typically three to six weeks from first call to someone moving in.

  1. Initial call

An HSE social worker or family contacts us. We have a confidential conversation about who the person is, what's needed, and whether McCare is likely to be the right fit.

  2. Visit and meet

We invite the family and social worker to visit the home, meet the manager and key team members, and ask the questions that matter. The individual joins when and how they're comfortable.

  3. Plan and agree

We co-write a placement plan with the family, the HSE and the individual. Goals, supports, medical needs, family contact, education: all in one document, signed off by everyone.

  4. Move in and settle

Move-in is paced. The person leads. We stay in regular contact with the family during the first weeks and adjust whatever needs adjusting.

Our approach

GROUND → GROWTH. The model behind every placement.

Our residential and aftercare services follow a model we call GROUND → GROWTH: trauma-informed but non-clinical, built around safety, relationships, and pace.

Disability services run on a separate Positive Behaviour Support framework. Both are person-centred, evidence-informed, and aligned to HIQA national standards.

Outcomes are individualised, relationally supported, and measured where it makes sense, never reduced to a number on a dashboard.

The GROUND to GROWTH model: Grounding, Clarity and Connection form the foundations of care, and growth — Development and Direction — emerges from strong grounding.Growth emerges from strong grounding.DevelopmentSkills, Identity& ParticipationDirectionOutcomes, Transition& HopeGROUNDFoundations of CareGroundingSafety & RegulationClarityOrientation & UnderstandingConnectionRelationships & Belonging

Send a message.
We'll take it from there.

One short form, one inbox, read by the senior team. Whether you're a family thinking about a placement, a referrer, or someone considering a role with us, this is the way in. Most enquiries get a personal response within two working days. Sensitive details belong on a secure call rather than a web form; we'll set that up once we've made contact.
